Preliminary Task

My role within the group was to help set up the camera with another person in my group and then give the signals to the actresses on when to come in through the door or to wait or when the right time was for them to speak and also to signal to the cameraman to click the record button. I was pleased with many aspects of my video sequence, one may be was that it did not take long to record so everything was done at a fast pace. I was pleased with how all the timing was correctly put in order so nothing looked out of place and everything fit perfectly. Also pleased with the dissolve effects that I have used because it makes the video look more interesting. We did encounter a few problems especially at the start, it did not take much long to set up the camera on the tripod, however it did take time to set up the Microphone because we could not figure out why the sound was not coming through and why there was a weird noise every time we connected it to the camera. We then figured out that there was something wrong with the microphone and it would not work but we could not figure out what problem that exactly was. Luckily, we also figured out that we did not need the microphone for the sound of the actresses speaking to come up on the camera as we checked beforehand and it worked fine without the microphone, that is how we resolved this issue without having to use a microphone. We also had another issue where a teacher kept coming into the room whilst we were filming and he accidentally got caught up into the video. It was because he had to supervise us and got caught in the wrong place at the wrong time. How we resolved this problem was I had to signal to him to move out the way and stand in another place in the room to supervise so he would not get caught seen on the camera. I have developed and learnt many new skills, one of which was how to set-up the camera and onto the tripod because I did not know that. I also learnt a whole lot on the Premium Pro that we used to edit our sequence and use new effects which I did not know how to insert. I learnt how to add the titles and change the font and size to that and I also learnt how to add dissolve and many other effects to make it look much nicer. I discovered new tools to use with this program for my clip which I did not know before, so I learnt new things along the way. The ways that I could have improved my project are by ensuring that the Microphone should have been working from the start and to make sure when we took the camera out that everything was in working order so that we would not have wasted any time when filming trying to get certain parts to be working, e.g. microphone. This is something that I would do differently if I was to repeat this task. Also, to improve my project I would make sure that whoever is filming the sequence would have held the camera in the right position because towards the end we did not realise that the camera had titled ever so slightly to the side when it should have been straight. If I was to repeat this task, I would do this differently, so everything is perfect. Moreover, I would probably add more effects if I was to repeat this task again, I would make the starting of the sequence probably dissolve in, so it looks more professional and much nicer than it currently is.
